What is an Occupational Health and Safety Plan (OHS Plan) and what should it include?
An Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Plan is a document that sets out how a company will manage health and safety at work. It includes details such as the company’s activities, production processes, the number of employees, and the location of workplaces. It also defines the type of OHS management to be used (in-house, external, joint, designated worker, or employer) and sets out the prevention policy and objectives. A key element is the prevention organisation chart, which specifies who will have roles and responsibilities in occupational health and safety, making decisions and implementing preventive measures.
Who is responsible for drawing up the Occupational Health and Safety Plan, and when is it mandatory to have one?
The Occupational Risk Prevention Plan must be drawn up by the company itself, as it is familiar with its production processes, its resources and the best way to manage occupational risk prevention to suit its specific circumstances. Should the company opt to use an external prevention service, it will be this service that collaborates with and advises the company on drawing up the plan.
How much does occupational risk insurance cost?
Hiring an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) service is not the same as taking out insurance.
